Gallery Show

1) I gained a new respect for artist that have gallery shows on a regular basis because it is very nerve racking to have random strangers looking at your artwork. You never know what they are thinking so i was nervous.
2) For next years art student, do not put off your work. I got all my pieces finished on time but many people didn't and they were very stressed.
3) I learned so much about art and photograph that I didn't know before. Now for future art projects I will have more experience.
4) I think for next years AP Studio Art classes there should be spend less time explaining thing to the whole class and spend that time exploring new ideas on their own.
5)I learned that i actually have a little artistic side. I have never though of myself as an artist before.
6) If I plan to go into any marketing business, this class will help me in the future market my own business.

Written Concentration

When I started my concentration series I had the idea of aging, how the body ages over time. After the first week I started layering my pictures and I really liked the layering look. I layered one picture of my brother’s face over a swimming pool background. I got many compliments on this photo and realized that was my best work. I wanted to explore this idea and moved in the direction of layering sport images. I attended many school events while my friends were participating in the sport they loved. My photos consist of a main character in action and a background of an item used in the sport mainly. I used abstraction, line, texture, movement, and rule of thirds in my images. I created abstraction by layering images together and giving the photo an abstracted view. All of my photos have movement because I took these shot while the character was in action. There is texture in my images from the lines on the baseballs and shoes. I find my final images to be much stronger than where I started.

Week Five

This week I went out to different school sport events and took new pictures for my concentration series. For this week I have tennis, track, and baseball to add to my series. I am having trouble deciding if I should use the black and white track picture or if I should use the green background. I don't want to have to many green backgrounds (tennis and future sports).

Week 4

After my last post I realized my best image was the one with my brother and the pool. I really liked the idea of showing the hard work people of all ages put into the sports they love. I think I am going to change my concentration series to the idea of sports and dedication. I will be taking pictures of people, friends and family, doing the sports they love and I will be overlaying the pictures onto a background related to the sport such as, nets, ball, fields etc. I think this concentration series will be more exciting and more entertaining for people to look at. I also added a picture of a basketball net because that will be one of the sports I am going to focus on next week.

Week Three

This week I have decided that layering images with people is my strong point. I have layered my younger sister ontop of colorful and happy backgrounds while my parents are layered ontop of rough textures with duller colors. In the black and white image with my dad you can really see the wrinkles on his face showing the age.The picture with my brother shows the intensity of sports as a high school kid. I have also added a picture of myself layered ontop of a flower that I had posted last week. I feel like this is a good picture to show the years between child and adult.

Week Two

During this past week I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do for my concentration series and what I want it to say to people. I think a good way to portray the young and old body types would be to have the young child in a color setting and the older adult in black and white. I will do this by either overlaying the pictures onto their color background, or I will do a diptych of the two images side by side. With the flower images and the pink hands the mood seems light, happy, and young. With the back and white face and hand the pictures looks older.
